Chan Chau

I was drawn to this illustration by Minneapolis-based cartoonist Chan Chau because I felt a deep connection to what it represents.

Have you guys read Josh LaFayette’s essay (Path to Heavy)? I will quote him on this one: “I find myself in music. I discover or rediscover pieces of myself in everything from classical to country to grime to grindcore.” While I might not be the biggest classical/country fan out there, it resonates with me because heavy music has been a huge part of my life for such a long time. Through happiness, hardships or sheer chaos, this music is still, to this day, the best catalyst. You can read the whole piece on Medium and don’t forget to check out his playlist (Underoath, Norma Jean, Every Time I Die, Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan and a lot more!) too!
